The site was a necropolis or burial place for many pharaohs and other high officials of the New Kingdom (1570 - 1050 BC) of Egypt -- 18th, 19th, and 20th dynasties.
The entire area consists of 63 rock-cut tombs that present striking pictures demonstrating how people in ancient Egypt buried their dead here next to their religious practices.

The Hatshepsut Temple

is the tomb of Egypt's only female Pharaoh, wife of Thutmose II, who reigned during the mid-15th century BC. It was erected as a shrine and a place for spiritual practices, thus preserving its design. The so-called Holiest of All built at the beginning of the 15th century BC and consecrated to Amun-Ra only, is noteworthy for its variously shaped architecture and awe-inspiring status nodes exhibited beside the Great Sphinx. They are terraces and colonnades organized in three levels along the natural heights of the cliffs to serve as their foundation.

The story of the gods and the monsters of the Hellenistic Era is still vivid on the walls of the temple.
The sculptures are engraved in this deposit some of the most valuable quotes on religion, mythology, and Hellenistic languages.

You will be transported to the Kom Ombo Temple, which is uncommon and situated on the Nile River's shores. The temple was built during the Ptolemaic occupation to revere two gods, Sobek and Horus, the two temples named after which the twin temple was named. The Kom Ombo Temple
