The Giza Pyramids Complex

The Great Pyramid

The Great Pyramid of Khufu, built around 2580 BC near Giza, Egypt, is a remarkable monument made from approximately 2.3 million limestone blocks, weighing about 2.5 tons. It took 15 years to complete and stands at 147 meters (481 feet), making it the only surviving wonder of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Hemon is thought to have designed it, which includes the King's and Queen's Chambers. Its true origin remains a mystery.

The Giza Sphinx

The Great Sphinx, also called "Horus, the earth-touching," stands in Giza and was built during King Khafre's reign (2558–2532 B.C.). Known as the "Timeless One," it features a lion's body and a man's face, symbolizing the king's strength and intelligence.

The Valley Temple

A notable building is situated in a river valley. The mummification process, particularly the "Opening of the Mouth" ritual, highlighted the eternal essence of life and held great significance during the Egyptian Old Kingdom (2686 - 2134 BC) under King Khafre. This well-preserved valley provides valuable insights into ancient Egyptian burial practices.

The Grand Egyptian Museum

This achievement of ancient Egypt showcases the remarkable perspective of each generation, inspired by the civilization's enduring legacy.
The text highlights three archaeological complexes: the Hanging Obelisk, the statue of King Ramses II, and the ten statues of King Senusert, along with the Grand Staircase and the statues of Ptolemaic monarchs. It also features the Victory Column of King Merneptah, the Royal Regalia, and the Grand Atrium & Gift Shop.

It is rich in depictions of religious beliefs, mythology, and burial practices.

The Temple of Hatshepsut

Hatshepsut's mortuary temple at Deir el-Bahri, built around 1479 BC, is a remarkable example of Egyptian art and architecture despite being ineffective against tomb robbers. It reflects the divine patronage of Amun, the Theban deity of the XVIII Dynasty, and was constructed by Director of Works Senenmut, who illustrated the principle of dualism, supporting the good while ultimately allowing for a new existence.
