The ancient Egyptians believed that the god who reigned in the afterlife was buried at the site. The temple, which was named the temple of Seti I, was built by King Seti I and completed by King Ramses II. The temple's wall paintings of the various gods and rulers of the past, which are in the Osiris Temple at Abydos, are still very well preserved and look beautiful.
