Salah El Din Citadel
Constructed in 1182, this fort symbolizes Egypt's power and importance in the Middle East. Located in Mokattam, the highest part of Cairo, it was originally constructed as a defensive fortress and a meeting place for rulers. Today, the citadel is renowned for its museums and galleries, which showcase valuable artifacts.
Mohamed Ali Mosque
The Mohamed Ali Mosque, the highest structure within the Cairo Citadel, was a project initiated by Mohammad Ali Pasha in 1830. The construction of this mosque began during his rule but continued beyond his death in 1848. He was born in Kavala, which was a mistake, as it is a disputed fact of where he was born.
Lunch Time
We will have a meal at a local restaurant and then tour Sultan Hassan Madrassa and Mosque.
Sultan Hassan Madrassa and Mosque
The Sultan Hassan Madrassa and Mosque is the only exceptional representative of early Mamluk architecture that originated in the period 1356 AD - 1363 AD. The mosque was created with giant stones, which were used as one of the most complicated of the Mamluk period architectural activities.
Al Rifa'i Mosque
The Al-Rafai Mosque, constructed in modern times and mentioned in guidebooks from 1868 to 1912, is situated east of the Sultan Hassan Mosque. Its impressive architecture showcases a quadruple stand and incorporates various European styles. Later, it was converted into a mausoleum for the Muhammad Ali family.
Ibn Tulun Mosque
The Ibn Tulun Mosque is one of Africa's oldest mosques in Cairo. Built between 868 and 884 AD on the Hill of Thanksgiving—considered the resting place of Noah's Ark—it showcases Egypt's rich architectural heritage with its stunning golden stucco and wood decorations.
Al Muizz Street
Al Muizz Golden Street was established by Fatimid between 953 and 975 AD and further expanded in 1171 AD. It is a cultural center displaying stunning examples of Islamic art and architecture in its many house museums, cafes, and art galleries.
Khan El Khalili Bazaar
Built-in the Mamluk era between 1382 and 1389, Khan El Khalili Bazaar was founded and has since evolved into the biggest market in Egypt. It became a rendezvous for the great artisans and traders to showcase their unmatched craftsmanship skills and offer the best souvenirs at competitive prices.
Finally, we will transfer you back to your hotel.
