The Egyptian Museum
The Egyptian Museum, established in 1901 by Khedive Abbas Helmy II, is one of the oldest archaeological museums in the Middle East. Located in downtown Cairo, it features a diverse collection of artifacts from the Predynastic Period to the Graeco-Roman Era (5500 BC—364 AD) on two levels.
The Museum boasts an impressive collection of intact tombs, including those of Yuya and Thuya, Psusennes I, and valuable artifacts from Tanis. It features the renowned Narmer Palette, which honors the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt. The Museum also showcases sculptures of Pharaohs Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, known for their magnificent pyramids on the Giza plateau, along with a variety of sarcophagi, papyri, jewelry, and other significant artifacts reflecting ancient Egyptian history and culture.
