Day 2: Discover the History of Ancient Egypt in Cairo
The Giza Pyramids Complex|
When construction concluded in 2600 BC, the pyramids were meant to provide the 4th dynasty kings—Khufu, Khafre, and Mankaure—and their families with proper shelter in the afterlife and allow them to ascend to the celestial realm—the field of reeds.
The Great Pyramid of Khufu
The Great Pyramid, built in 2570 BC, is a remarkable stone structure of 2 million tones. It was completed in just 15 years and is still considered one of the original Seven Wonders of the World. Well-preserved over centuries, it stands at 146.6 meters (481 feet) and is the heaviest object in the world, weighing about 6 million units. It features an impressive King’s Chamber.
The Giza Sphinx
The Great Sphinx in Horus of the Horizon was created by Pharaoh Khafre between 2558 and 2532 BC. Modeled after a lion, the Sphinx symbolizes divinity and is a guardian of immortality. Its unique characteristics are highlighted by its connection to the Dream Stele of Thutmose IV.
The Valley Temple
The valley temple of the old kingdom (2686–2125 BC) is in perfect condition and is an example of a temple for eternity. Thus, most of it was reserved for embalming the 4th dynasty rulers who went through the opening of the mouth ceremony.
The Grand Egyptian Museum
The Grand Egyptian Museum features an impressive collection showcasing 5,000 years of Ancient Egyptian civilization. Highlights include the Statue of King Ramses II, the Statues of King Senusert, the Grand Staircase, the Victory Column of King Merneptah, and the Hanging Obelisk. Visitors can also explore the royal regalia, Grand Atrium, and Gift Shop, providing a unique glimpse into the ancient world.
A VIP ticket is obtainable, allowing one to see several additional items. Please contact us for further information.
After touring the Giza area, the guide will take you to a different restaurant for lunch in Cairo. After lunch, you will be taken to the most interesting place in Cairo.
The Egyptian Museum
The Egyptian Museum manifests the soul and artistic consciousness of the Egyptians of the past 4000 years. It is the most demanding site to visit in Egypt if you have an interest in visualizing the lifestyle and habits of this ancient civilization and the various forms of artifacts and treasures that the Egyptians had. Where is the awesome Egyptian Museum located?
After the trip, you will be provided a transfer back to your hotel for some rest.

The Aswan High Dam's primary purpose is to control floods and is also a hydroelectric power generator. It also helps irrigate the area via a washing facility close to the big reservoir, lake Nasser. After the building of the Aswan High Dam in the 1960s, it posed a danger to the northern sites of Abu Simbel and the Temple of Isis at Philae. During the 1960s, UNESCO conducted a worthless rescue operation to save both a long and daunting life.
The Unfinished Obelisk
The unfinished obelisk is a testament to Queen Hatshepsut's Golden Age (1508-1458 BCE). The Hatshepsut Temple, rising 42 meters and weighing 1,200 tons, showcases exquisite stone-carved and inlaid designs, reflecting the high skill of New Kingdom artisans.
After, continue with your guide to enjoy a delicious lunch.
The Philae Temple
The Temple of Philae, dedicated to the astral cult, depicts the myth of Isis, the Mother Goddess and Queen of the Afterlife. Her significant sacrifice was giving birth to Horus, the god of protection. Most of the temple was built between 380 and 362 BC, with further expansions from 282 to 145 BC, supported by Ptolemy II, Ptolemy VI, and Ptolemy V.

The temples of Abu Simbel, which was the great work of Ramses II (1279-1213 BC), are in the mountains. It was built in 1264 BC. It is most known as the hypostyle hall of the king, flanked by the two towers (of the Sons of Horus) and surmounted by a winged sun disc, which was the symbol of several Egyptian gods, but the child god Horus was the most important. In the proximal location is the temple of his beautiful wife, Queen Nefertari.
